Welcome! I’m Laura a fully qualified humanistic counsellor and psychotherapist, person-centred trained. I work with children aged (7+), young people and adults.

I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and abide by their Ethical Framework.

Professional public indemnity insurance is held, I have an advanced DBS, have regular supervision, attend regular (CPD) courses and activities to ensure I keep all my skills and knowledge up to date. I follow all of the current GDPR recommendations making sure you feel safe and secure knowing that your person information is being handled and stored correctly.

I currently work in a few different locations all of the office spaces are easy to access with good transport links, free parking and in a private facility, which ensures client confidentiality and discretion.

I am able to to provide home visits following a strict risk assessment and also hold sessions outdoors for those who are apprehensive about being in the traditional therapy room

Hello and welcome to my page. I am a fully qualified, BACP registered Counsellor working with adults and young people from my therapy rooms in Watford and St Albans in Hertfordshre and via online video call, worldwide.

I am passionate about providing an inclusive, confidential, safe space for all clients regardless of their race, religion, gender or sexuality.

There are many different reasons that lead people to seek Counselling and your journey will be unique to you. You may be going through a difficult point in your life or finding it hard to cope or deal with past or present issues? You may be feeling confused, stuck or like you’re going around in circles and unable to move forward. Whatever your reason, we can work through it together and help you find a way forward.

I am intuitive and highly spiritual which underpins the way I work. I consider myself to be a wounded healer; having had the lived experience of trauma and healing from it.  My lived experience as well as my professional qualifications helps facilitate your healing process.  I provide a safe healing space that enables you to explore your reality, perceptions, behaviors and thoughts so you can gain clarity, greater purpose and increased passion in your life.

I suffer from a neuromuscular condition called SMA type II. I believe that my disability has allowed me to connect deeply with clients who have experienced injustice, judgment, and oppression in their lives. Also, to empathise with clients who have experience of being subjected to negative attitudes or stereotyping from others or society.

The most important thing to me is that you are comfortable when you are talking about personal and sensitive topics so that you are able to share without any felt consequences or regrets. With the outbreak of Corona Disease i am now offering support via Telephone and internet versions of face to face therapy, supporting people affected by the condition or illnesses that could be regarded as high risk during this tough period.

Life can sometimes be so complex and difficult that we do not always feel able to sort it out and get back to feeling “normal again”.

The complexity of life and the hardships that some people have to endure has always fascinated me, and having experienced many personal losses and life changing events myself, my passion has grown, and I would like the opportunity to “make a difference” and support those when it is most needed.

Working in my current work environments I understand how the demands of daily life and major life events such as a Bereavement, Domestic Violence, Physical/Sexual abuse, or divorce can leave us feeling overwhelmed, confused or even just sad.

I also have experience of supporting Family affected by MND, and emotional support around the journey they will be going through.

My role as your Counsellor is to help you to explore the feelings and emotions that are often related to your current/past life experiences. I offer you the opportunity to reflect on what is happening in your world and for me to support you therapeutically to explore alternative ways of copings and dealing with emotive issues, that impact negatively on your life and to family and friends that are dear to you..

I am a Person-Centred therapist but I also use CBT and Solution Focus approach when required.
I have a broad range of adult and young people’s clients covering a range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, personality disorders, and relational issues. I can work with issues that relate to trauma, PTSD, loss, anger management, addiction, eating disorder, social anxiety, OCD, and substance misuse.
I can say I am passionate about counselling, which helps to empower clients, enabling them to live fulfilling lives.

I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and MSc in Psychology. I am also a life and Health and Wellness coach.

Finding the right counsellor is an important step, the fact that you are here means that you have already made the biggest step in recognising you would like some support. 

Counselling is a safe space to offload and explore what’s going on for you. Counselling is not about me telling you what to do.  It might be helpful to provide you with coping techniques and strategies to support you to find your own way forward.

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with extensive NHS experience. I am the Mental Health Lead for the Cambridge Medical Academy (Cambridge University), where I train a global network of 800+ doctors and nurses in mental health. My research on improving access to mental health has been published internationally. I lecture at Southampton University teaching the Phd and MSc Psychology students. I provide in depth assessment and treatment for a range of psychological and emotional problems.

During my career, I have gained significant experience and supporting people to become psychologically and emotionally well again. Many of the patients I have supported have required specialist support with chronic anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, addiction and physical and psychological pain. I have in-depth clinical knowledge of how to manage complex psychological conditions.

My first degree in Anthropology and MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy sit as a foundation for all of my professional work. This has included the clinical delivery and management of services for young people, troubled families and secondary care psychotherapy (complex comorbidity and Personality Disorders).

As well as running my private practice, I currently work at The Terrence Higgins Trust with people living with HIV, and prior to that I worked on their Youth Counselling Project delivering counselling to young adults, with the Central School of Speech and Drama, and a Jewish counselling service for adults. I’ve sat with many different people with individual stories, whether it be bereavement, life limiting illness, relationship difficulties or coming to terms with their sexuality. In addition, my previous work in television production equips me well to support people in the creative industries, and I understand at first hand the challenges of high pressure, high profile work and home life.
