My Experience

“Psychoanalysis is a method for investigating the Human soul”

Bruno Bethelheim

There will be times in your life  where you will be faced with challenges and conflicts that can cause stress and anxiety, which can also lead to depression.

During these times, your thoughts ,feelings, and behaviours, can begin to have an adverse impact on your health, work, your relationships, and your life in general.

While some things will  be outside of your control, some are not.

The way I work is to provide a safe, confidential space, where you will have the opportunity to explore any issues or concerns that you may have. Between us we would explore any thoughts or feelings that you are experiencing, with the aim of helping you make more sense of what’s happening, and to help alleviate the symptoms, e.g. stress, anxiety, depression, confusion etc.

The aim of your therapy is to develop a deeper understanding and awareness of yourself, and to find a place  where you will be able to make healthier choices, so that you can enjoy life a bit more, and function at a higher level.

Some of the problems that I have experience of working with, include, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, obsessions, bereavement, addiction, alcoholism, gambling, food problems, sex problems etc.

I am a recognised psychotherapist with AXA PPP, BUPA, AVIVA, PRU HEALTH, and CIGNA. If you are covered for by any of these , you could be eligible for funding.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to arrange an initial session to assess your situation and see if this kind of therapy is what you need/want at this time.

My Approach

Counselling and Therapy – How I work
Identifying mental health problems or illness may be difficult without a concept of mental health. One way of thinking about mental health and mental health problems is that they exist on different points of a continuum. Each of us may be found somewhere on this continuum at different points, at different times, for different reasons.

Emotional difficulties and mental health problems frequently coincide with life events such as marriage, divorce, work, moving home, transitions, childbirth, bereavement, loss and stress.

It is important for me  to consider an individuals culture, social, educational, ethnic, sexual and religious backround and current circumstances when attempting to understand, identify or assess mental health or behavioural problems.

I am a qualified Psychodynamic therapist.

The way I work is firstly to try and  establish a rapport with my client so that they feel at ease enough to talk freely about their thoughts and concerns.

One of the aims of psychodynamic therapy is to bring the unconscious mind into consciousness- helping individuals to unravel, experience, and understand their true, deep rooted feelings in order to resolve them.

I like to work with what is  happening in the relationship with myself and my client, e.g. how the client is expressing himself, how the client feels being with me, is the client able to be clear in their communication with me about what they want to say?, If my client is struggling to communicate his/her thoughts and feelings with me, it is likely that they are struggling with this in their personal and work relationships.

I would be mindful about what it is the client wants from the sessions.Between us we would hope to become aware of any thoughts or feelings they may be supressing, and try to identify any defence/coping mechanisms that they may have adapted over the years.

I also like to work with any distorted thoughts or feelings they may have about themselves or others, with the view to  help them gain a healthier , more realistic perspective.

Together we would hope to gain insight and understanding as to what is causing the symptoms with an aim to alleviate any pain and suffering.

I do short term dynamic counselling and long term, depending on the individuals needs.

Fees.. I charge £70 per session(Individual). £120 per session for couples.

I provide online therapy with either WhatsAp,Skype,Zoom, Trlephone.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to arrange to have therapy, or even if you just want to have a chat to discuss whether therapy is for you at this time or not (no obligations).
