About Me

Realizing that you need help and taking the first step can be hard – you’ll find that I offer a welcoming, safe and non-judgmental space to explore, understand and grow at your own pace.

I’m passionate about helping people to achieve as much change as possible in the shortest reasonable time, whilst recognizing that for some, this might require a longer-term view – ultimately, it’s all about helping you to achieve a more positive and fulfilling way of living that lasts! I offer confidential and non-judgmental time and space to think and reflect, and use a number of tried and tested therapeutic techniques, including deep relaxation and guided imagery to help you to understand and transform your experiences and emotions with compassion and a different perspective.

My Experience

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I spent 5 years as a volunteer listener and mentor with Samaritans supporting people with thoughts of suicide and in emotional distress. In addition to 2 years in private practice I also have 4 years experience of working with complex trauma and survivors of childhood sexual abuse in the 3rd sector and over 15 years of providing life and career coaching in industry.

I also have 20 years of corporate experience in the automotive sector in process improvement and change management,  and understand the daily challenges faced in the workplace as we each try to achieve emotional well being and a healthy balance between the demands of our careers and home life.  More recently I’ve been working with the Department of Work and Pensions helping to deliver Mental Health, Behavior and Communication training to job centre staff and am the resident mental health expert for a HR peer to peer networking group.

My Approach

I use an integrative, solutions focused and client led approach which seeks to understand whether your emotional needs are being met in a healthy and balanced way, the patterns and past experiences that frame your world view and makes use of your own innate and personal resources to achieve powerful and lasting change.

My background lies in a combination of person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT training, and more recently within the framework of the Human Givens approach – this seeks to identify what in a person’s life isn’t working and to tailor individual solutions using a combination of effective psychological interventions, education and problem-solving.  In this way I help my clients discover what they need to live fulfilled and satisfying lives and enable them to determine robust ways of achieving and maintaining a positive state of emotional and physical well-being.
