My story

Thats where I can support you! I am Daniel, a Clinical Solution Focused Hypnotherapist based in North Bristol.

“As a child I suffered with sight and hearing problems, often finding that some people struggled to understand and accept the difficulties I was facing. As is often the case, this affected me mentally leading to low self-confidence and anxiety issues. Without proper treatment, my mental health problems followed me through university and the first stages of my career. Since then, I’ve suffered numerous medical issues from osteoporosis to brain seizures and chronic pain – I even had to spend a six-month stint in a wheelchair and two months in hospital recuperating after an accident.

I’m not telling you this for sympathy, what I’m trying to say is, “I get it”. I understand how hard it is. The thing I’ve learned through all of this is the importance of not giving up, of finding the positives and focusing on the future. I believe whole-heartedly in the impact that solution focused hypnotherapy can have on the psychological effects of a chronic physical condition. If you feel you’re ready for something to change, then I believe I’m the person to help make that possible. I’d love to give you the tools and techniques to get you back in control and living your best life.”

I offer in person one2one private consultations at The Arches Therapy Rooms, 1st Floor Clinic, 198 Cheltenham Road, Montpellier, Bristol BS6 5QZ.  If you would prefer an online consultation instead from the comfort of your home? Thats total fine! Find out more about how my hypnotherapy services could help you move forward with positivity by giving me a call or email me.

My Experience

I can support you to find the drive and determination to become the best version of you that you can be.

“My training and awards to provide an excellent service to you as the client” Having held 3 degrees from: The Robert Gordon University, University of Aberdeen, and my Masters degree from University of Southampton University. I also held a number of jobs in nutrition and health and social care. Then after I had recovered from my accident, I decided I wanted to be in a position to better help people like myself. I investigated Solution Focused hypnotherapy and the more I learned the more I felt excited by its possibilities. Having trained as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist at Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) in Bristol 2016.

“Protecting you is my priority: my accreditations” I am a registered member of the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) and the Complementary Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) for Hypnotherapy. I also have professional indemnity insurance and a DBS check so you can be assured my services are highly professional and safe.

“I have personal and professional experience with helping you achieve your positive goals” As a Solution Focused hypnotherapist, I see you as you, an individual who needs support in a particular area of life. The tools and techniques I use can help to provide that support by focusing on where you want to be rather than where you are now. Hypnotherapy is a powerful way to evoke change and positivity in your life.

Feedback from previous clients

“I had been attempting and failing to stop smoking over and over again for years. Then a friend suggested I try solution-focused hypnotherapy. After having sessions at Daniel Bateman Hypnotherapy, “I am overjoyed to say that I am cured. Just like that! It’s like I’d never been a smoker. The craving, IT’S GONE! Thank You, Daniel.”

“I arranged to meet with Daniel because I was having problems with insomnia related to anxiety over beginning a new job. (…) Overall, I found Daniel to be friendly, approachable and professional and would recommend his service to anyone considering hypnotherapy.”

“Daniel is an inspiration. When he talks to you, you get a real sense that he’s overcome personal struggles in his own life. He uses these experiences to help you create a positive outlook. I walk away from every session with a much clearer head and feeling far more relaxed.”

My Approach

What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy aims to help people overcome stress or emotional problems by reducing anxiety and calming the mind. It is often referred to as a ‘talking therapy’ and involves looking at a current situation to determine where you want to be and what you would like to change in your life. This will help you to build coping mechanisms and discover new positive solutions to make you happy.

As the name suggests, this branch of hypnotherapy focuses on solutions for the future, rather than analysing problems or discussing painful experiences of the past. This can make a therapy session an extremely soothing and positive experience.

How could Solution Focused Hypnotherapy help me?

During a session, hypnosis is used as a therapeutic tool to help stop the negative downward spiral of anger, anxiety and depression. You will achieve a relaxed state, naturally increasing your levels of Serotonin. This chemical messenger can help you to feel happier, more positive and more refreshed. Additionally, it gives you more control over bodily functions and in particular encourages better sleeping patterns. Amazingly, solution focused hypnotherapy can even improve your ability to make positive decisions in your life.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis enables us to relax our mind and body to go into a subconscious state – often called a ‘trance’ or ‘daydream’. This may sound scary, but it is not. On average a person goes into a trance every seven minutes. This is considered a very ordinary and normal human activity. We can go into a trance when we are reading a book, doing housework or working out at the gym.

What does hypnosis feel like?

During hypnosis you will be guided into a similar state so that beneficial suggestion can be directed towards your subconscious mind. Hypnosis is simply a state of focused attention. In this relaxed state, your mind is more responsive to suggestion. In a therapeutic setting, the suggestions are designed to help you change unhelpful thought patterns.

Clients often comment about how “ordinary” Hypnosis feels – you can hear everything that is being said whilst in a deeply relaxed state. I often describe it as guided daydreaming.

Should I be worried about Hypnosis?

The hypnosis you will encounter with me will be completely safe, and always using evidence-based practices. Solution focused hypnotherapists do not hypnotise their clients or ‘magically’ solve the problem as portrayed in the media or on the stage. For hypnotherapy to work it is important that you are completely committed and ready to make your own positive changes to your life and to your mindset.

I would like to reassure you that you will have complete control over your session and your own hypnosis. My role is to teach, help and support you to use hypnosis as a tool to achieve a positive mindset and transform your life.

How many sessions will I require?

After your initial consultation you can choose as many further 60-minute sessions as you wish to undertake. The number of sessions is dependent on factors such as the condition you presented with at your Initial consultation, your ongoing progress with the sessions, and your progress. I may advise, but you will have complete control.

How long before I see results?
Many people report feeling calmer and more relaxed after only one session. However, to see long-lasting results you will need to undertake a number of regular sessions. We will discuss how many sessions you may need at your initial consultation.

What if I am unable to attend my session?

If you are unable to make the appointment, I politely request that you give 48 hours’ notice to allow me to reschedule another client. All cancellations must be made verbally by telephone (if you leave a message that is fine). Unfortunately emails or text messages cannot be accepted. Due to overheads incurred, same day cancellations, forgotten or missed appointments will be charged in full.
