Darcie Thomas

Hello, my name is Darcie and I am a qualified counsellor who works within the Dudley area. I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and therefore I adhere to their code of ethics and guidelines to provide a safe environment.

I offer my clients a safe, non-judgmental environment to discuss their thoughts and feelings in a confidential manner. I do not criticise nor judge, instead offer an understanding ear to whatever issues which may plague you. Together we can work to help you feel the confidence in changing your life.

I counsel within a Person-Centred perspective which means my support is very much focused on what is beneficial to you. I don’t claim to be an expert on how you can deal with the problems you face. But instead, I am here to help you find the solution which is best for you.

Counselling is a unique experience in which an individual can explore, understand and accept themselves and their relationships with others. I know how having someone to turn to, to talk about how you feel can be so helpful. It can be life changing.
We have all struggled with difficult times in our lives and had difficult emotions to try and make sense of. You are not alone.
In my practice I will support you to know yourself better, by helping you reflect, think and feel about your experiences. I will help you grow your own self-acceptance and awareness.

Nicola Demetriou

“I wish had the courage to express my feelings. I wish that I had let myself be happier”. Hi I’m Nicola and I believe that having courage to seek help when we need it can change our lives. Making you feel safe and heard is my priority. Walking through your difficult feelings you will have the opportunity to explore a new perspective and find the tools needed to equip you to manage situations more effectively. I work with people who have depression, anxiety, bereavement, work stress, abuse, self-esteem and relationship difficulties. I am passionate in helping you to feel more fulfilled and understand more about yourself.

I have previously trained as a primary school teacher. However, after suffering a very close bereavement I reached out for support and saw the benefit and value of counselling which I also wanted to bring to other people.

I offer face to face and online counselling through video calls or telephone counselling. This allows flexibility for you to have a session wherever you feel comfortable without having to travel, especially in these unprecedented times. Furthermore, it offers similar benefits to face to face counselling as we are able to see each other and build the one to one relationship more effectively.

During our first session which is 50 minutes long, I believe building a trusting relationship with you is paramount and we will explore what has brought you to counselling and the experiences you are currently having as well as touching on your past experiences to gain a greater understanding of who you are as a person. I will then discuss with you what your goals of the therapy are which we will review in set intervals together, depending on whether you would like short term or long term counselling.

Gordon Wax

You haven’t come this far, to come this far.

I run quite a bespoke service, because everyone has vastly different requirements that constantly change regardless of the current climate. However there must be some sort of therapeutic framework so that change, growth and all-round wellbeing has a place to emerge from. The therapeutic relationship will be one built on trust, this often taken time to be felt. But also required a commitment to each other, just like any other normal relationship. Therefor I try to explain the importance of “showing up” to therapy, both physically and metaphorically, so that your investment in self actually works.

A therapeutic environment can be quite a peculiar place to seek out and then find yourself in, however our world and all of our experiences we touch or run away from can be just that, weird! I invite you to pause and reflect upon the route of where the weirdness come from. Perhaps just picking up the phone, pressing send, or even uttering the words “I need help” feels impossible.

In therapy, bring all of your baggage, losses, failures, good bits and the unattractive parts including four letter words. This being said, if you are feeling reserved, unable to find words that hide behind feelings or actions, then we work slowly, unpacking one bag at a time, at a speed and style that is correct for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Gordon.

Mariella

I am a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) who works in accordance with the BACP’s Ethical framework.

I began my academic training in the field of Psychology at London Guildhall University and after extensive research on Community Mental Health Care I progressed onto a 3yr BACP accredited Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I qualified in 2008 and set up in private practice.

I have worked extensively with the following:

    Children & Adolescents
    Childhood Trauma
    Depression & Anxiety
    Relationship struggles
    Family Difficulties
    Loss & Bereavement
    Anger & aggression
    Survivors of Abuse
    Sexuality & sexual differences
    Attachment Disorder
    Cultural Identity
    Suicidal Thoughts
    Cultural Identity
    Meaninglessness & futility of life
    Work/life balance
    Job loss
    Illness
    Dependency
    Self Esteem

In 2013, I undertook a Diploma in Counselling Children & Adolescents Using The Arts which allowed to me to then go on and set up and run a Counselling Service at Lea Valley Primary School and The Complete Works Alternative Provision, working with vulnerable children and adolescents.

Therefore, in addition to my private practice I have also worked as a psychotherapist in community counselling agencies such as MIND, Barnet Community Counselling and Counselling Initiatives in Islington as well as with young people at Hornsey YMCA and Whitefields Secondary School. Hence, this has therefore provided me with experience in working with children and young people of all ages.

In addition to one to one counselling I can also offer bespoke well-being and pastoral programmes which can be developed for a variety of settings from primary and secondary schools to pupil referral units.

Using some of the key elements of counselling, I am able to work with individuals, groups and whole settings whereby I seek to develop working programmes that look at areas such as conflict resolution, working with others, listening and self esteem as well as addressing specific issues identified as being significant to that particular setting.
This may include areas such as friendship, eating disorders, bullying, collaboration, peer and family pressure, puberty and addiction.

I understand my work as a counsellor to be about providing you with a non-judgemental, safe, relational space, where my role is to facilitate you in addressing past experiences and how they impact on the present, the person you are today and support you in developing a deeper awareness of how you experience yourself privately, in relationships, in the world and in the present moment in the counselling relationship.

The counselling process can enable the possibility for exploring choices and change and can also lead to greater self-understanding, heightened self-acceptance, improved relationships with others and greater control over your life.

I’ve been counselling since 1989, and since then have been inspired by the resilience, bravery and sensitivity of the many adults, young people, families and couples I have worked with. I have extensive experience of working with sexual abuse and trauma, parenting and attachment difficulties, identity and relationship issues, depression and anxiety, bereavement and loss. I am committed to collaborating with you to find the resilient, hopeful part of yourself that becomes expert in managing your challenges and is motivated by the smallest signs of progress towards your preferred future.
I originally qualified as a Person-Centred counsellor, and have completed additional training in Transactional Analysis, Systemic Family Therapy, Attachment Based Therapy and Online Counselling. In 2007 I qualified as a Solution Focused Practitioner and this is how I prefer to work now. I have found the Solution Focused approach to be extremely effective in my personal life as well as in my work with clients.

I run my own practice called Ray of hope counselling services,  I  have a degree in counselling and psychotherapy. I also have an advanced diploma in integrative counselling.  I  offer clients therapy using the humanistic approach. I have a great deal of experience in counselling and group work.  I have worked within various professional organisations, including the NHS and The Priory Hospital, working with addiction and many other issues such as  trauma anxiety and depression.

I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment offering my clients unconditional, positive regard and empathy as they grow and develop. This can lead to greater insight, healing and progress.  Sometimes the world we live in gets tough. There can be so many mix messages which we start to believe about ourselves, this can sometimes develop into a negative core belief such as. ” I’m not good enough or I don’t fit in”, and many more, as a result of this clients can often feel depressed, it starts to affect self-esteem. Counselling can help clients to challenge these negative core beliefs and help break the patterns this will result in a more positive self-concept. and self-belief.

When it comes to relationships, do you • Find it hard to say no to people?  • Find yourself doing all the heavy lifting, but feel people often take you for granted? • Feel left out, lonely and resentful?

NOW IMAGE YOURSELF

• Saying no to people without feeling guilty

• Genuinely looking forward to spending quality time with others

• Being clear and firm with other people about how you feel

• Being open and honest about how you feel, without worrying about the other person’s response.

I am Wenna, and I help people to build healthier relationships

We are often told ‘you need to be nice to be liked’

So, you put yourself last

You accommodate other peoples’ needs before your own; you are always the one who listens and supports others,

But who is there for you?

While it’s okay to be someone’s rock, it’s not okay, if doing so leaves you feeling resentful and dissatisfied

There is a ‘ win-win’ solution. This is to apply the same love that you give others to yourself

It sounds really easy, but this is difficult if you don’t know what your needs and wants are

There are ways of listening to yourself that help you clarify what is acceptable and what isn’t

LET ME SHOW YOU HOW

I am Wenna, and I help people to build healthier relationships

I remember how I used to feel deeply unhappy in my relationships.

I came to realise, a main contributing factor was that fundamentally, I didn’t approve of, or accept myself. I didn’t feel I was worthy of love.

I am happy with my relationships now, because, through therapy, I learnt how to listen to myself and accept me for who I am. I now help people with similar issues.

You can change and grow through this, you deserve peace and happiness just like anyone else

It’s my aim to work collaboratively with you, so that together we can explore how to move your life forward in a positive way.

I also work with couples to help improve communication and bring changes to their relationships.

I look forward to hearing from you

With love x

Wenna

Counselling London Psychotherapy

Hello, my name is Glen and I aim to bring clarity, sensitivity, and creativity to my work, with warmth, maturity and humour, offering fresh insight in supportive, affirming ways. I have an impartial perspective, working both intuitively and with knowledge. Holding a perspective of self-determination, I view therapy as joint exploration, which may include exploring our resources, strengths, qualities alongside our limitations, frailties, vulnerabilities. Recognising we are all unique, I don’t hold a “one size fits all”, tick-box approach, acknowledging that no one counselling approach explains the complexities or holds the truth for everyone.

I value each person’s uniqueness and respond in an individual way to your circumstances and at the same time appreciate the interconnectedness of what we human beings hold in common – that beneath our differences are fundamental shared experiences & central concepts, that creativity, the human heart & suffering are universal. I welcome, value and respect people’s diversity, uniqueness, autonomy.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy both online and in-person at my Camden, Kings Cross, London NW1, UK location.
