I have come to counselling after almost 30 years working as a social care professional, as I felt I wanted to improve my work life balance. I have an extensive experience of life in all its glorious technicolour which I feel has helped to ground me as a person not just as a care professional. I share my life with my small family and our little rescue pug Pumpkin.
I have extensive experience in mental health both as a professional and lived experience ,especially anxiety and depression and an understanding of the impacts of these on all areas of life including relationships and loss. I have also been a grief counsellor at a local hospice for 2 years and worked with both bereaved clients and those undergoing medical treatment for life limiting illness.
I am a humanistic or person centred counsellor which gives you as the client the freedom to direct our sessions together, after all you are the expert on you. I will regard our sessions as a journey with me as therapist alongside you for the duration of that trip making observations and commenting on what we se and where we go but you are driving. I offer a safe empathic space to explore what you wish to bring which I hope you will find healing and solace in.
