About Me

I am passionate in helping people find a happier way of being with greater fulfillment in their life. Whatever is causing you difficulty, I believe that things can be different for you. You may feel any mix of feelings that impact your life and relationships negatively. Any are valid and, I feel, are a communication to what may be going on within. I offer compassion and understanding without any judgement in a space in which we can truly get to know what is difficult. In this space we can gently explore anything that troubles you so that we may work through any issues together, no matter how big or small you feel it is.

I work from a psychodynamic approach which explores how the person you have become today is a result of all of your past experiences and may impact how you relate to others and yourself today. Prior to private practice, I have worked within the N.H.S as an honorary psychotherapist, in Secure units and have also taught Counselling Courses.
I understand that starting this journey may feel daunting. Our work together will move at your pace and will be confidential. If you would like to start or fear starting, please call for an informal chat so that we might get a feel for each other. This way you can get a sense if I am the right therapist for you.

My Experience

Since qualifying I have worked in a charity based therapy centre in which I trained gaining a distinction in my diploma. I returned to the centre teaching counselling to students on the course I had completed. I taught on the second and final clinical years of that course. I have also taught counselling skills in a adult community learning centre.

Whilst completing my studies, I worked withing the N.H.S on both adult and adolescent secure mental health wards and also in the Priory Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex.

Whilst working as as therapist at the centre. I also gained the role of honorary psychotherapist in the N.H.S. which I undertook for six months.

Since then I have been working in private practice and have well in excess of 2500 face to face hours of experience with clients presenting with a vast range of problems.

I am a member of the B.A.C.P and to meet this standard I undertake continual professional development and attend monthly supervision.

My Approach

My approach to the therapy is one of honesty, transparency and confidentiality. The sessions are directed by the you and go at the your pace. I work from a psychodynamic approach which explores how some of your past experiences may negatively affect how you relate to others and yourself today. Examining how the relationships you have had since birth may have shaped your view of current relationships today.

To explore this I invite you to talk about what is on your mind so that we may explore what things mean to you in the hope of discovering things that are not helpful to you.

I take a warm and gentle approach with the aim that we can work toward positive change.
