About Me

Welcome to my website

BACP accredited counsellor, with over twenty years counselling experience, offers safe, accepting, confidential space in which to bring whatever you need to speak about.     I am experienced in working in many styles of counselling including cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, integrative counselling, solution focused, if these ways of working are helpful to you.

Having that space to speak and be heard in counselling can help you clarify issues that may be causing you confusion at the moment.  Counselling can be a space to speak in a way that may not be possible to speak with friends or family;  to express how you are feeling.  Being heard in counselling can help you come to a deeper understanding of yourself and what matters.

Perhaps you are needing support during a bereavement, a trauma, a relationship issue.  Do you need support with anxiety, depression.  Perhaps you are needing support as you go through a change in your personal life,  in your health, changes in the workplace, personal growth.   If so counselling can help.

My Qualifications

My Experience

My counselling experience is expansive and includes offering telephone counselling support, within an employee assistance support service,  to callers presenting with a broad range of issues and distress.    This is an organisation I worked within for many years.

Other telephone counselling experience includes working over many years in the field of addiction, working on a smoking cessation helpline as a stop smoking counsellor. I hold full NCSCT certification as a smoking cessation practioner.  I am skilled in supporting people who are wanting to change addictive/unhelpful behaviours.

Voluntary counselling experience over the years includes working for a well known bereavement charity;  as a student counsellor at a London university;  for a well known mental health charity;  for two London hospitals.

Experience over the more current years includes working privately, accepting self referrals, referrals from e.a.p.s, from private health insurance companies, from personal injury claims, supporting people with trauma.

My Approach

Each person is different, so at our first meeting I will listen to your counselling needs and this will inform how we might work together.   This can change over time as your needs change and as you progress.

The quality of the relationship you and your counsellor create together (known as the therapeutic alliance) plays an important part in any change.   Our first meeting together gives you a sense of how you will feel working with me and an opportunity to talk about your counselling needs.
