I am integrative counsellor with an emphasis in humanistic approach but drawing from different therapeutic styles.
My focus is in creating a positive climate with the client of empathy and trust, to explore the issues that are interfering with your wellbeing. To understand the client’s circumstances and perspective and for the client to clarify how they feel/think. I then aim to intervene on the patterns that are causing the distress, to expand perspective and in collaboration bring new patterns that will improve the person’s distress and wellbeing.
I have studies and worked in Spain, USA and UK, therefore I also offer sessions and Spanish and therapy related to intercultural/expat difficulties.
Other areas of interest/experience include anxiety, depression, relationships, self-esteem and past trauma.
Difficult times with the right help and clarification are an opportunity for growth and newfound wellbeing. My aim is to make this process rewarding for you.
After I completed my Bsc in Psychology (Barcelona,2004) I started working in mental health hospitals and residences supporting people with acute and chronic mental health conditions. This was the time where I realised my vocation was in helping people improve their mental health.
After 2 years supporting people with mental health needs I relocated to the USA where I completed a MA in Psychology (New York, 2007). I started supporting people with learning difficulties and after 4 years started working in a clinic as a therapist for adults and children experiencing mental health issues.
In 2010 I began providing online therapy world-wide, something I still do to this day.
In 2012 I moved to the Uk (Bristol), started supporting people with mental health needs and learning difficulties in social care. I also completed a level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Bristol,2016).
I have been in private practice and worked with low cost agencies providing counselling to adults experiencing a wide range of issues.
My approach is integrative, my base is humanistic therapies and also CBT, although I have kept on learning and incorporating other approaches into my practice, adding tools and styles to be able to help more people that might require a different approach to their issues.
Some of those new styles I have added and have experience working with are :IFS, focusing therapy, solution focused therapy, mindfulness, ACT, trauma informed therapy, inner child therapy, Gestalt, TA and Somatic Therapy. I have certificates in EFT and Rewind Therapy.
I am continuously learning from what works better therapeutically at the current times.
