Basak Jeffreys

We live in a challenging world. There are times in our lives when we must endure pain, stress and loss whilst holding our business and personal lives together. Some people choose to work through their issues alone, perhaps considering reaching for help is as a sign of weakness. Talking with someone who has no relationship to your daily life, willing to listen and understand your concerns can help.

I understand the pressures of difficult emotions and circumstances. I’m here to help you to address your challenges by encouraging you to clarify the issues, explore options, develop strategies and increase self-awareness.

I place importance on providing warmth and empathic attunement in a safe and confidential environment, which allow us to reach the heart of the issue sensitively and effectively.

I’m a Humanistic therapist which means that I integrated Person Centred, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis. I refrain from offering interpretations about my client’s behaviour. Instead, I choose to help you explore and become aware of unhelpful patterns, beliefs and behaviours whilst assisting you in gaining an awareness of your resilience, inner-resources and strengths. As part of my integrative diploma training, I have also synthesised the psychodynamic approach and CBT into my practice in order to provide tailor-made treatment for each client.

In my practice, I facilitate positive changes for my clients by encouraging them to get in touch with their own psychological strengths and to overcome those difficulties thus finding meaning.

From my earlier background in film and media I have imported an ability for creative thinking within the professional, ethical bounds of counselling. This is particularly productive for young individuals who may find comfort and ease in expressing themselves pictorially as opposed to articulating their life challenges.

Salvo La Rosa UKCP reg. MBACP

Hello! I am a qualified, UKCP registered integrative psychotherapist. I am a relational, trauma informed, transpersonal psychotherapist and I work in a mindful, compassionate and creative way both in English and Italian. I also an EMDR trainee therapist and I am able to use this in my work. I am a LGBTQ+ affirmative therapist and welcome clients from diverse backgrounds.

How psychotherapy can help

Whatever your wound or life struggle, I will offer a calm and professional space to help you navigate through your current circumstances and towards a direction that is true and right for you.

Therapy can help with addressing the legacy of the past that might still be holding you back in the present and by helping you develop more and more of your inner resources and qualities

What to expect in the first session

This would be an opportunity to get to know each other with no obligations. It is for you to get a feel of whether you would like to work together on an ongoing basis and for me also to understand whether I might be the best person to help you. I will ask you some questions about what has brought you to therapy and about your background and this will be a good time to ask me any questions as well.

More about me
I came to therapy as a second profession after working in the advertising industry for some years. Originally from Sicily, in the south of Italy, I have called London my home for the past 13 years.

Cristiano Bruschi

I am an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor and I have been working with clients of varied backgrounds. I am based in Central London and I also offer online video sessions.

Whether or not you have experienced counselling or psychotherapy before, the process of finding a therapist might feel daunting and make you wonder whether the therapist will understand your issues and be able to work with you without passing judgement. I offer a lower fee for the first consultation because I understand that in order to find the right person for you it is sometimes necessary to try different therapists. It is essential that you work with the one you feel comfortable with and who enables you to open up in order to achieve your therapy goals.

I offer one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy and I provide a space for you to open up and explore difficult issues in a safe and non-judgemental environment, whatever the issues presented. Depending on the individual situation, you will then be enabled to review your patterns of behaviour and relationships and take action towards change. The general aim is to help you find healthier and more satisfying ways of living your life. In addition, you might have specific aims that I can help you achieve.

Aryeh Sampson

About me
I specialise in helping couples and individuals improve their relationships and overcome anxiety, anger and depression. I  also work with a wide range of other issues.

I am an experienced BACP accredited psychotherapist and certified Imago relationship therapist with training in CBT. I have a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Regents College and have been in private practice since 2009. My approach is integrative, and  I am a recognized provider for WPA, AXA  and BUPA.

How can I help?

1)  Marital and Relationship Issues

As a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist I work with individuals and couples to understand the causes of their difficulties and  rebuild love and connection in  their relationships.

Couples often experience a breakdown of communication, that causes a fight and flight  reaction. These may become repetitive cycle of self destructive behaviour were  anger expressed spins out of control .A reduction of emotional closeness, trust and physical intimacy  follows which can lead to crises in the relationship, affairs and even the threat of divorce.

Together we explore what you need, why there is disconnection and  how you can get the relationship you want. A key to this is building open and calm  communication in order to understand  each other, resolve conflict and meet each others needs . We also focus on building greater appreciation,  care and fun to  reignite love and connection in the relationship.

2) Overcoming Anxiety ( Generalised Anxiety Disorder & Panic attacks)

Anxiety comes from underlying fear. To overcome it, we need to understand what the fear is and what is causing it. Sometimes it can be based on illusory thinking, where a person focuses on the worst case scenario coming true. These thoughts need to be challenged so we can eliminate them. . When the fear is a real one, it needs to be confronted by taking appropriate action. There are times when anxiety is based on the influences from past experiences, which need to be addressed to resolve them.

3)  Anger Management

Anger can wreak havoc in a person’s life. With anger management a person gains understanding into what’s triggering the anger and how to change the way you respond. This can be by expressing feelings in a healthy way, and taking appropriate steps to solve the underlying cause of the anger. In each case anger management is tailored to the needs of the clients.

Counselling London Psychotherapy

My aim is to bring clarity, sensitivity, and creativity to my work, with warmth, maturity and humour, offering fresh insight in supportive, affirming ways. I have an impartial perspective, working both intuitively and with knowledge. Holding a perspective of self-determination, I view therapy as joint exploration, which may include exploring our resources, strengths, qualities alongside our limitations, frailties, vulnerabilities. Recognising we are all unique, I don’t hold a “one size fits all”, tick-box approach, acknowledging that no one counselling approach explains the complexities or holds the truth for everyone.

I value each person’s uniqueness and respond in an individual way to your circumstances and at the same time appreciate the interconnectedness of what we human beings hold in common – that beneath our differences are fundamental shared experiences & central concepts, that creativity, the human heart & suffering are universal. I welcome, value and respect people’s diversity, uniqueness, autonomy.

****To help as many people as possible during this pandemic I am offering a 50% reduction on my hourly rate for a reduced period during this difficult time******

I know how difficult it must be searching through the profiles trying to find the right therapist/coach. Making the decision to enter into therapy is a brave one and sometimes it can be difficult. I have been told by clients that I am calm, warm, welcoming and approachable. I have also been told that I am able to put them at ease.

I offer a safe non judgemental space to work through your difficulties and offer strategies and tools to quickly reduce your symptoms and help you feel more in control. I specialise in anger, anxiety, depression, obsessive and compulsive behaviours, stress and trauma. Many of my clients self-report to feeling much better after 6-8 sessions.

As a psychotherapist,  I help you explore and understand patterns in your thinking and in relationships with others and with yourself  that may be causing you pain or making you feel stuck. I help you find your own solutions instead of giving you advice. I believe if you are given a safe space to be heard you will find your own healing.

I am an approachable and supportive counsellor, who offers personally tailored and non-judgmental counselling to everyone who needs support.

I have been a professional person-centred counsellor for many years and was initially drawn to becoming a counsellor by my life experiences with mental health and disabilities.  I saw first hand the power of the therapeutic relationship and decided that I wanted to train and be able to offer people a place where they could come and just be themselves and talk through whatever was troubling them.

When we go through life, our opinions alter and so do our thoughts on past and present experiences. Things we have been through previously can suddenly hit us like a ton of bricks and we don’t know where the thoughts came from. We can be watching tv, reading a book and all of a sudden, Anxiety we never had before rears its ugly head affecting us in ways we never thought of, disturbing our daily lives whether gradually or suddenly. We could be sitting in a cafe with friends, completing tasks at school/work and all of a sudden a huge wave of grief takes over us. I am here to help you explore these feelings learning ways to cope.

I am a qualified counsellor and have CBT as my core model of study. I have also had personal experience of mental & physical abuse, health issues, divorce, loss & bereavement, LGBT+ issues and many others from child, young person and adult perspectives therefore I am able to empathise with my clients issues and walk with them on their own path of life.

In the current climate of panic and fear I’m very happy to offer my services at lower than usual rates,

I always want my work to be about being of service first and foremost.

I’ve had an awareness for many years that much of the suffering and many terrible things that happen in the world  are fundamentally unnecessary and wrong. And that collectively we can help to end abuse and corruption of power.

Maybe now is the perfect time to connect with people who want to take their power back and grow through challenge and adversity, maybe you would like to grow and evolve in a new way through all the fear, panic and chaos around you.

What if the human immune system is way more complex and advanced than we know?

I have found through activities like Wim Hof ‘cold therapy training’ that what doesn’t kill us most definitely can make us stronger.

If we take sensible risks and resist completely going into fear and over relying on medication, which can risk putting harmful toxins into the body as well as negative side effects, rather than going back into our nature.

I’ve always been fascinated with life and the human condition, as in why people and the world are the way they are.

Why good people do bad things, and why the world works in such a strange way.

Like many of us I grew up in a challenging environment, at school it didn’t feel like I fitted in and I found many of my teachers to be abusive and even hostile at time.

Also like a lot of us, I had parents who are not bad people, but their own problems interfered with my own developmental needs and personal challenges at key points.

I love creative arts like music, film and stories we can learn from, as well as physical body based activities like swimming and martial arts, outdoor camping trips, and exploring different parts of the world.

I love working with clients and helping them to become more self aware and empowered individuals.

I have a strong passion for self development work and bringing meaning and purpose to the world.

Mariella

I am a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) who works in accordance with the BACP’s Ethical framework.

I began my academic training in the field of Psychology at London Guildhall University and after extensive research on Community Mental Health Care I progressed onto a 3yr BACP accredited Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I qualified in 2008 and set up in private practice.

I have worked extensively with the following:

    Children & Adolescents
    Childhood Trauma
    Depression & Anxiety
    Relationship struggles
    Family Difficulties
    Loss & Bereavement
    Anger & aggression
    Survivors of Abuse
    Sexuality & sexual differences
    Attachment Disorder
    Cultural Identity
    Suicidal Thoughts
    Cultural Identity
    Meaninglessness & futility of life
    Work/life balance
    Job loss
    Illness
    Dependency
    Self Esteem

In 2013, I undertook a Diploma in Counselling Children & Adolescents Using The Arts which allowed to me to then go on and set up and run a Counselling Service at Lea Valley Primary School and The Complete Works Alternative Provision, working with vulnerable children and adolescents.

Therefore, in addition to my private practice I have also worked as a psychotherapist in community counselling agencies such as MIND, Barnet Community Counselling and Counselling Initiatives in Islington as well as with young people at Hornsey YMCA and Whitefields Secondary School. Hence, this has therefore provided me with experience in working with children and young people of all ages.

In addition to one to one counselling I can also offer bespoke well-being and pastoral programmes which can be developed for a variety of settings from primary and secondary schools to pupil referral units.

Using some of the key elements of counselling, I am able to work with individuals, groups and whole settings whereby I seek to develop working programmes that look at areas such as conflict resolution, working with others, listening and self esteem as well as addressing specific issues identified as being significant to that particular setting.
This may include areas such as friendship, eating disorders, bullying, collaboration, peer and family pressure, puberty and addiction.

I understand my work as a counsellor to be about providing you with a non-judgemental, safe, relational space, where my role is to facilitate you in addressing past experiences and how they impact on the present, the person you are today and support you in developing a deeper awareness of how you experience yourself privately, in relationships, in the world and in the present moment in the counselling relationship.

The counselling process can enable the possibility for exploring choices and change and can also lead to greater self-understanding, heightened self-acceptance, improved relationships with others and greater control over your life.

We live in unprecedented times. The restrictions imposed on us all to manage the spread of Covid19 have had a huge impact on society and ourselves as indivIduals. Many of us are anxious about job security and the wider impact of lockdown on the economy. There is also a collective uncertainty about the future which is affecting our relationships and our emotional well being. Many of us are isolated and finding it hard to manage our mental health and can’t access face to face therapy.

Sessions with mee will allow you to talk about your concerns about the impact of the crisis on your life and to help find a way forward as well as ease the effect of isolation.

I am experienced in both face-to-face work and online counselling and therapy.

What I offer as individual therapy has evolved into an approach which quickly gets to the heart of your issues; it offers a range of ways of working to try to accurately match your need and in the most effective and time efficient way. My approach is both friendly and warm. Therapy can often be refreshingly brief and, as far as possible, an enjoyable/rewarding experience, particularly when long standing issues have been completely resolved.

I have been a practising psychotherapist since 1999 with a former career in commerce, and I also maintain an artistic practice alongside my therapy work.  My wide range of life experience helps me to ‘put myself in your shoes’ and empathise with your individual situation in the context of the uncertain and tragic times we find ourselves in.  I understand the difficulties in balancing earning a living, supporting family, ‘holding it all together’  and trying to live an authentic life where you are able to feel more alive, enriched and nourished by your world.  I have a deep interest in nature and ecology as well as the arts, culture, literature and music.   I work with individual adults and couples, as well as having been a tutor on Counselling Skills and Diploma courses.  I work in private practice both online and face to face and have worked in a number of different settings such as an NHS Medical Centre, specialist therapist for Crohns disease at Derriford Hospital, Eating Disorder Support charity and Sexual Abuse Help Centre.
